Mission Statement

Hinsdale County Search and Rescue (HCSAR) is a volunteer organization dedicated to saving lives in all seasons through professional and proficient backcountry search and rescue operations. We are committed to multidisciplinary training, interagency coordination and effective equipment utilization.

About HCSAR

100% Volunteer - Nonprofit first responder organization

30 member roster

22 members actively participated in "high risk" missions and/or trainings in 2025
 
6 members are on the leadership team and meet periodically throughout the year.

13 members have 3 or more professional licenses and/or certifications

26 members have full time careers as business owners, educators, healthcare professionals, construction and skilled tradespersons.

12 members are also active members of EMS (5), Fire (4), and/or Wildland Fire (3)

We are a force multiplier to public safety entities.

Interagency coordination with Sheriff's Office, Emergency Medical Services, Wildland Fire, Lake City Fire Rescue

No members have received pay or stipends to date

Provide a reliable and sustainable source of revenue.

Generate approximately $62,000 to $65,000 annually for HCSAR.

Cover 72% to 75% of  our projected annual expenses.

Maintain professional and proficient search and rescue operations for our visitors and community.
